I Will Never Get Married, and There’s a Reason for That

A wedding is the happiest day for all women. For everyone – but not for me. Why? Because I will never have a wedding. Therefore, you will have to choose another day to celebrate Happiness.

I don’t want to try on the same dress three times; choose a bouquet and the perfect color of napkins.

I don’t want to see my distant relatives, whom I may not even know.

I don’t want to taste ten types of cakes, from which I will have to decide on one because I will feel bad.

Maybe I’m a hopeless romantic, but I think you should get married once and for all.

That’s why I don’t want to get married. Because I can’t be sure that I will have it, and if I have it, I’m not sure it will last forever. And even if it lasts forever, I’m not sure it will be how I want it to be.

I want to be with someone because I love him and not because of a piece of paper. So far, no man has been able to make me change my mind. And I don’t think anyone will. Because for me, love is more important than anything else. And that’s why I don’t want to get married.

Marriage is a legal contract that can be incredibly difficult to dissolve. It’s a big commitment, and I’m not sure I’m ready for that yet.

I’ve seen too many people get married and then end up getting divorced a few years later. It’s always such a sad thing to see. People invest so much time and energy into their marriage, only to have it fall apart. I don’t want that to happen to me.

It’s possible that after watching “Sex and the City,” some women wanted a Charlotte-Esque life where they married a wealthy man and, if the marriage didn’t work out, only asked to keep their multimillion-dollar apartment.

From what I know, women are at a more significant disadvantage than men regarding divorce. They may aim for gender equality in employment and other settings, but they’re not as fortunate regarding marriage dissolution.

So, if I don’t want to get married, it’s not just because of the hassle or because I might have to give up my apartment in a divorce. It’s also because I’ll be more likely to come out on the losing end financially.

The same with children. If there is a child, what to do with it? How to do everything correctly?

Maybe I’ll change my mind one day. But for now, I’m happy being single and unattached. Who knows? Perhaps I’ll have my Sex and the City – Esque life someday. One can dream, right?

Until then, I’ll keep living my life as I want – unmarried and free.
