Dear ex,
Thank you for making me realize that I deserve better. Thank you for making me see that I am worth more than how you treated me. You were never good enough for me, and I am glad to be rid of you. I hope you find someone who will make you happy because it is clear that you cannot do it yourself.

I regret pouring so much love, effort, and devotion into our relationship when you gave me so little in return. I feel like I wasted some of the best years of my life on you. But I am grateful for the experience because it has made me more robust and wiser. I am now ready to find someone truly worthy of my love.
I hope you find happiness. But even if you don’t, I will be happy knowing that I no longer have to put up with your nonsense.
I apologize for the way I allowed you to influence me, creating a chasm between myself, my family, and my friends by convincing me that I was at fault and you were flawless. I know now that it was all a lie. I hope you realize this, too, someday.
Thank you for giving me the best gift I could have ever received: the freedom to be myself again. I am finally free from your manipulation and control. I am no longer a victim of your emotional abuse. I am stronger and happier now without you.
Growing up and developing a partner was not something I had ever thought about. I was always self-sufficient, and the thought of sharing my life with someone seemed like a burden. But then I met you, and you showed me that it could be different. I believed you were the one for me for a while. But it didn’t take long for your true colors to show.
You were never good enough for me, and I am glad to be rid of you. I hope you find someone who will make you happy because it is clear that you cannot do it yourself.
I’m now on the correct road. I now understand myself and will never allow anyone to treat me poorly again. I deserve to be respected, loved, and cherished. And I will never settle for anything less.
Sincerely,
Your ex-wife
P.S. I hope we never have to see each other again.
