Bad days are inevitable. We all have them – sometimes, they come in a series. And when they do, it can be tough to rebound and get our energy back up. But we must try. It just means that you are human and not wrong just because you had a bad day.
Bad days happen to everyone – even the most successful people in the world have them. The difference is that they don’t let their bad days define them.
Here are six ways to help you regain strength after a hard day.

1. Make a gratitude list.
Making a gratitude list is one way to help shift your focus from the negative to the positive. On days when you’re feeling down, take a few minutes to write out all the things you’re grateful for in your life. It can be anything – big or small – from your health to your happy childhood memories.
2. Keep a diary.
Keeping a diary is another way to help you process your emotions and start to move on from a tough day. When you’re feeling low, write out everything that’s bothering you. Getting it down on paper can help you see the situation more clearly and start to develop a plan for how to deal with it.
3. Meditate.
Meditation is a great way to calm down and center yourself. There are many different types of meditation, so find one that works for you. If you’re new to meditation, plenty of resources are available to help you get started.
Here are examples of meditations:
- Body scan: Lie down on your back and focus on each part of your body, from your toes to your head. As you focus on each body part, notice any tension or pain you’re feeling and breathe into it until it dissipates.
- Breath awareness: Sit comfortably with your eyes closed and focus on your breath. Notice the sensation of the air moving in and out of your body. Don’t try to control your breath; just let it flow naturally.
- Loving-kindness: Sit comfortably with your eyes closed and imagine someone you love – a family member, friend, or even a pet. Send them thoughts of love and kindness, and then imagine that love and compassion radiating from them to others.
Even a few minutes of meditation can help you feel more grounded and at ease.
4. Do a child’s pose.
Child’s pose is a simple but effective yoga pose that can help to ease stress and tension. To do a child’s pose, start on all fours and sink back onto your heels, extending your arms out in front of you. Rest your forehead on the ground and breathe deeply.
5. Try positive self-talk.
Positive self-talk is another tool to help you get through a tough day. When you’re feeling down, try to reframe your thoughts in a more positive light. For example, instead of thinking, “I can’t do this,” try telling yourself, “I can do this.”
6. Do something you love.
Finally, make sure to do something you love every day – even if it’s just for a few minutes. Doing things that make you happy will help to lift your mood and give you the strength you need to get through tough times.
Bad days happen to everyone. But by using these six techniques, you can start to regain your strength and get back on track. Give them a try the next time you’re having a tough day.
