We’ve all been there at some point in our lives – desperately seeking approval from others. We may be making a big decision, like what college to goaltender we may be looking for someone to tell us that we’re doing a good job. No matter what it is, it’s not healthy to constantly look for other people’s validation.
I will discuss eight reasons you should stop seeking approval from others and start living your life according to your rules!

1. Other people’s opinions do not define your worth.
Only you have the power to determine your value and self-worth. If you’re looking for validation and gratification from others, know that it’s a bottomless pit. You may receive a momentary boost from external approval, but long-term happiness comes from within.
2. You’re wasting valuable time and energy.
Constantly seeking approval from others takes up precious time and drains your energy. Time spent looking for external validation could be used to focus on yourself, work towards your goals, or pay with loved ones.
3. Not everyone is going to agree with you.
No matter what you do or say, not everyone will approve of it. And that’s okay! You can’t please everyone, and trying to do so is a fool’s errand. Do what feels right for you, and don’t let the opinions of others hold you back.

Constantly seeking approval can put a strain on all of your relationships, whether it’s with friends, family, or romantic partners. Stop seeking validation from others and start focusing on healthy communication and boundaries in all of your relationships.
